3 Fictional TV Characters I Relate to on a Deeper Level

Yes, I’m basically an old man

This ended up being a more difficult undertaking than I anticipated. Why?

For one, I’m a greater fan of reality (non-fictitious television) shows.

Additionally, there’s plenty of TV characters I love, but whom I share very few personality traits with. As much as I’d like to shoehorn Walter White into this list, I need to be realistic.

As you’ll see with this short list, I tend to relate to the sidekicks — or the more minor characters in a show (who also tend to be older, more soft-spoken, and all the wiser). It works for me. I hate the spotlight, I hate drama, and I’ll almost always shy away from the hero role in real life situations.

That said, I enjoy my fair share of television series, and they’re even more enjoyable for me when I find characters I identify very closely with. I think in a weird way it helps me understand, well, me better.

So here are three TV characters I relate to on the deepest of levels:

1. Lord Varys — Game of Thrones
