At the beginning of July, I decided to resume my Medium membership so that I could read and interact on here more freely. I wanted to get into the habit of perusing articles on Medium every single day — because If I’m going to write regularly, I also want to read regularly so as to better understand the Medium landscape.

And frankly, as I said a month ago, it’s only fair that I check out the work of people who are showing an interest in what I have to say. You get what you give.

In July I consumed tons of very interesting content, discovered writers whose work I hadn’t read before, and rediscovered writers whose work I did remember reading in the past.

I think the commonality I found amongst the writers on Medium I enjoy is a willingness to put themselves out there — to tell their story in a really open, truthful, and genuine fashion.

It’s funny because this is probably the one thing I struggle with the most, being vulnerable in my writing, knowing that potentially many people will read it…and as a fairly private person, putting all of myself onto these pages can be a daunting task.

But it’s when these writers I really enjoy offer deep insight into their lives and experiences that I find myself relating to them in a valuable way, and thus being able to see the world in a new light.
