Hi, I’m The Guy Not Responding to Your Texts
But hear me out!
I’m the worst kind of person — a real pain in the ass: a unresponsive texter.
It actually frustrates me, about myself, that I often fail to take 30–60 seconds to just respond to a simple text message.
I see it — sometimes read it, sometimes not — and tell myself I’ll deal with it later, maybe in an hour.
But then the next day comes, and I still haven’t responded. So I get anxious about having to explain why it took so long to text back. Well, now I decide to just leave it be until tomorrow…and then tomorrow turns into 20 tomorrows, and we’ve catapulted from “somewhat rude dude” to “the jerk store called and they’re running out of you”.
I used to think my inability to text back was just a bad habit — and maybe to a degree it’s become that — but recently I saw a meme on Facebook that perfectly explained the behavior of an unresponsive texter like me.
