I know this comes a few weeks later, but really enjoyed your thoughts on the finale. Would be curious to hear your thoughts about the season as a whole, and in the context of all 35 seasons…

For me it definitely picked up post-merge, driven by Ben and Joe’s voracious gameplay. And in general, I think I’ll look back fondly on the group that went into S35’s merge.

Though much like you I’ve been ambivalent about the new FTC format. I think it’s fine for the game, but to me it doesn’t play as well on TV. Perhaps I’m just a purist — I prefer great jury speeches…and while we’re at it let’s carve out seven or eight minutes and bring back rites of passage!

As for the reunion? I’m glad the positives of the season were given focus, albeit briefly. But overall this has got to be one of the most underwhelming reunions in the show’s history. I used to look forward to hearing from everyone, especially the castaways we haven’t heard from in several weeks. Alas…
